X2's PLOT

It's six months after Sigma's first defeat, and all is not well in the little kingdom of Mega Man X. Sigma may be dust in the wind, but many of his followers still remain.

Amoung these followers are a deadly trio known as the 'X Hunters'. Serges, Agile, and Violen have dedicated their time to resurrecting a certain someone or something that's very familiar.

Time passes as it often does, and the X Hunters leg drop by on Maverick Hunter HQ, announcing that they have all of the destroyed Zero's parts. The X Hunters tell X that the parts can be his...if he can defeat them first. (How utterly evil...) And who, you ask, is behind the X Hunters and their plot? Siggy. Didn't we see that one coming a mile away.

I found myself to be a little bit dissapointed with the second X adventure, considering the facsination I had with the first one. X2's plot seemed too familiar and not detailed enough, the translation was a bit dull, and the music sounded more like game music...that is to say, computer generated noise.

But it certainly wasn't a BAD game. The graphics were very impressive, and it was hard to be impressed by SNES graphics after the release of Donkey Kong Country. In addition, X2 had the best batch of Mavericks from any of the X games (Wheel Gator is God!)

Another thing I liked is the way that the plot split in half once you had the option of fighting the X Hunters. If you managed to collect all of Zero's parts, you'd be treated to watching Zero rush in and destroy a Zero clone that Simga had created. If you failed to collect Zero's parts, however, Zero would be rebuilt and brainwashed by the X Hunters, and X would end up fighting against him in a difficult battle prior to fighting Sigma himself. But whether you save Zero or not, you get the same ending... X standing on a cliff with Zero, whining his fool head off.
